How to make and
operate the IWATE black charcoal kiln, ARECOP, 1994. |
Japanese charcoal making
dates back to 9th or 10th century and Iwate is one of the
most basic traditional kilns. Iwate kiln, is introduced as
an alternative method of charcoal production; it is more fuel
efficient and produces better quality charcoal than most traditional
methods of charcoal production in Asia. The kiln provides
a permanent kiln structure and the advantages of protection
and greater control over carbonization processes. There is
a minimal level of investment, yet the kiln produces charcoal
of high quality. |
